A Funny Sort of History is my space on the web where I write articles about comedy.

What do you write about exactly?

Anything that takes my fancy, so long as its comedy related. That said, the articles focus on telling stories from the history of comedy, with some occasional explainers and analysis thrown in. The first ever article explains in more detail.

And who are you, some kind of expert?

I’m just someone who loves comedy and taking it apart like an old radio to see how it works.

I used to be a software developer and university lecturer, but these days I’m a writer. I’ve had several comedy novels published, got an MA in Comedy Writing, and written for a couple of BBC Radio comedy shows.
